What's Your Goal for Today?
Last time we talked about setting
goals in life. And that's a great thing - and most
people who even think about setting goals think
about things 2, 5 or 10 years down the line.
And all that is great!
But, in order to build what we call "accomplishment
momentum" and to actively and purposely use
your time each and every day, it's also important
to set a goal for yourself each and every day.
Daily goals should not be confused with that list
of things that you have to get done within the next
8 or 24 hours. Rather, it's a goal that you set
for yourself that will help you move to the place
where you really want to be.
What it is depends on you - it may mean doing 100
pushups, or eating healthy, or writing another page
of your book, or helping someone - just about anything
that unlocks your potential for living on a higher
plane - anything that taps into that special place
that we all have inside that makes us more creative,
more artistic, more insightful, more like - gasp
- our creator.
It's that thing that when accomplished you feel
like you really - REALLY - accomplished something
worthwhile; the thing that makes you feel like you've
tapped into your creative reserves and has moved
you one step closer to what you want to be.
Ask any athlete, or any artist, or any scientist,
what a difference a daily goal had on their performance.
The mind needs something to look towards to, it
needs something to focus on, it needs a crisp, concrete
goal to work towards. It's always easier to hit
a target - moving or not - when the target exists.
Without that target there's literally nothing to
hit!
So each and every day, start it out by setting
a goal for yourself. It may be small, it may seem
insignificant to others, but set it anyway. Finish
writing that extra page in your novel, walk that
extra mile, do those extra pushups, volunteer an
hour of your time to help those in need.
Whatever it is - do it and see if you are not better
for it.
We are all creatures that long to do and create.
Start out each day by asking yourself "What
do I want to do today? What shall I apply my creative
energies to today?"
Set the answer squarely in mind and get going and
you'll see how good it is to live each and every
day to your fullest creative potential.
