Five Easy Tips for Controlling Weight
& Promoting Weight Loss
The first and most general tip is to ensure that your calorie intake does not heavily exceed your daily caloric needs. That is, if for example, you require X calories per day based upon your activity level and lifestyle, then your calorie intake should not be 10 times X. This is perhaps the most obvious issue behind weight gain/weight loss, but also the one that is least put into practice.
Next in line is another simple but often overlooked action one can take to lose weight, and that is chewing food thoroughly. This makes things much easier for your digestive system (in fact, chewing is the first step in digestion), food breakdown, nutrient extraction and elimination. Chewing thoroughly – which also makes you eat more slowly – will also help minimize the incidence of stomach pains due to eating, heartburn, bloating and indigestion. It also contributes to weight loss and weight control by making you more conscious of the eating process and when you should stop.
You’ve heard it before – why can the French eat rich, hearty meals and not get fat! Well, while there are many factors involved in answering such questions, one major component is portion control. And this relates to the first thing we said in the first paragraph – do not intake more calories than are needed by your type of lifestyle.
While many people absolutely love them, drinks heavy in sugar are definitely factors contributing to obesity. Limiting your intake of such beverages will help with controlling weight. Instead of such beverages, make water your main beverage and leaves such drinks for special occasions.
Last on our list is exercise. No, we are not saying that it is the least important of the bunch, it is vastly important for weight management as well as overall general health. Exercise on a regular basis and you will be better for it.
